ACCESS DENIED!!! Experts Please Help?

Hi thanks for supporting me all the time,

Now i have a serious problem

I have an External HD of 160 GB

I had gone for a vacation for my Grandma's place, there i had to capture some moments using my Digital Camera.

So I did, and once the Memory card in my Digital cam was full i copied the Images to my External HD. and then again i captured again i Transferred to the HD.

Now i am back to my town, when i try to open the Folders in my PC, It shows ACCESS DENIED "The following file is not accessible" all other folders in the External Drive is working except these folders.

These are main Data's please help me or i will be FIRED UP

  1. You need to retake ownership of the file. It's easier to direct you to a website @ microsoft.com on how to do this then type it all out here (the method varies depending on whether you have XP home or XP pro). The link is: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421


  2. The file system on you external HDD is probably NTFS, and therefor protected. (I assume it was connected to your grandma's computer earlier, when transferring the pic's?)

    You'll need to right click the folder while it still resides on that HDD and give "Everyone" "Full access" to it (in sharing and security).

    Then copy it to your computer like you did earlier and enjoy the pic's.

  3. Right click the folder with the denied message. Then select properties and security. It should giv you an option in advanced to take ownership if you are an administrator. They are currently owned by the sid of the user on her machine, which means nothing on yours.
