ACF Fiorentina winger Stevan Jovetic unlikely to feature this season – Serie A Update
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stevan-Jovetic-c34163 is still doubtful of appearing for the outfit now that just two games remain in the ongoing 2010/11 season. The Montenegrin footballer sustained a serious injury to his right knee in the preseason training sessions, and it
has kept the winger on the sidelines throughout the season.
The winger twice underwent knee surgery last year but has failed to recover fully. The Viola play their next game against Bologna on May 15, and there are no chances of Jovetic appearing in the second last game of the season.
With a Sunday appearance having already been ruled out, the winger seems hopeful of appearing against Brescia Calcio in the final game of the season.
Talking to the media yesterday, Jovetic explained the situation and said:
"I was hoping to return this Sunday in front of the Fiorentina fans, but due to a muscle strain I cannot do so. I'll try for the ultimate to be present for the team in the last game against Brescia."
However, Jovetic’s teammates and medical staff have advised him not to rush his return, and that he should wait for the next season to make a fully recovered comeback to the Italian top flight. Jovetic showed his appreciation and love for his teammates and
for their concern, but revealed that he is growing impatient to make his return.
"I thank you all for your trust, it is a responsibility that scares me but I want to meet on field goals and assists, I've never been afraid to close his career, other players have had the same injury and came back strong as before if not more. It will be
true for me as well”, concluded the Gigliati second striker.
There have been rumours recently linking AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mirko-Vucinic-c26024, to be the likely replacement of Jovetic in the next season. However, contrasting reports suggest that the attacker is getting his contract extended until the summers of 2015.
