ACH Volley LJUBLJANA defeats Knack ROESELARE by 3-2 in the Challenge Round
A match of the Challenge Round of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup took place recently in the Belgian city of Roeselare.
The two teams that locked horns together was the home side of Knack ROESELARE as well as ACH Volley LJUBLJANA of Slovenia. The match that followed the clash of the two sides kept the spectators on the edge of their seats for five long and thrilling sets
after which the guests were able to secure a win.
The first set of the match saw both the teams come out strong but it was finally secured by the home team. The guests responded by bagging the second set by smothering their opponents as the Knack kept trailing behind all the way but the home team returned
the favour in the third set of the game.
The fourth set was the most competitive as the two sides battled long and hard. The guest side wanted to secure the frame so that the match could be brought to a fifth set while the home team intended to cut it short by making an early win.
After the guests had brought the match to a fifth set, they sent on to secure a win at the following final set scores: 23-25, 25-12, 15-25, 28-26 and 15-7.
The coach of the home team shared his views in the following manner, “We could have won this match but we made too many mistakes, we completely failed in the second set as well as in the opening of the tie-break. However I still think we have a chance to
win the return match in Slovenia and so our adventure in the CEV Cup is not yet over.”
The player that was able to earn the title of top scorer in the entire match belonged to ACH Volley. Alen Sket of ACH kept the pressure on his opponents by scoring a total of 27 points for his team.
On the other hand, the most active player on the winning side stood to be Sam Deroo who sped the Knack on towards victory by making his contribution of 23 points.
