Question:

ACL sugery...........

i foud out that i have to have sugery for my torn ACL. but i am terrified for the sugery, and the pain after, if you could please tell me everything thing that happend before and after the sugery, and i see that most people get staples, do the hurt to get put in and taken out?

  1. i have had the surgery and survivied...i was terrified as well and trust me when i promise that while there will be some discomfort after surgery the relief that you will feel after healing will all be worth it.

    good luck and staples aren't bad unless they connect to the healing skin and then they will hurt like a bee sting when taken out


  2. I had the surgery about 5 years ago. It only took about an hour and went off without any problems. Your anesthesiologist will come speak with you beforehand to make sure you have any questions answered. You will be in good hands, anesthesiology is one of the longest medical degrees to get for a reason, they have a lot of training under their belt.

    They'll give you a medication for afterwards. I recommend taking it as soon as you're allowed to as the pain can creep up on you if you don't.

    I was given stitches, they leave a smaller scar and it doesn't hurt to remove, but it does feel odd. Also keep off your feet as much as possible for the first couple days and keep the leg elevated. Ice can also be a great friend to have.
