ACL surgery: Indianapolis Colts rookie NT Josh Chapman hopeful of recovery this season – NFL News
Josh Chapman, the Indianapolis Colts rookie nose tackle, who suffered an injury setback into closing period of the American college football career, is optimistic about making to the final squad this season.
The NT had a surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the transition time from college league to the professional league, the National Football League (NFL).
He says to be very much on the recovery target so far and hopes to join Colts at the start of the 2012 NFL season.
Josh says of the rehab status:
“Everything's going right on schedule. I'm getting my strength back. I'm getting back to myself and feeling pretty good.”
The player, who was present at Colts' Fan Fest stop in Fort Wayne, said he is optimistic about his stint with Colts, expecting the team is going to come out as a great unit.
Obviously, his reference was the addition of rookies and experienced players at almost all positions as part of the rebuilding process that the team's owner, Jim Irsay, has introduced after coming out of the miserable 2011 NFL run of their
franchise history.
The rookie notes:
“We have a lot of great players and a chance to do something special. I'm going to go out there and compete and let everything handle itself. I've been on the field and from my eyes and my point of view, we're clicking together. Everybody
sees the big picture of what we want to do.”
Although all the talk of the rookie looks too ambitious given he is yet to play a game or even practise in the pro environment, it is a rare show of confidence in the player’s own abilities and team’s prospects.
Chapman particularly appreciates the sense of direction Colts’ coach, Chuck Pagano, has given to the new players. He sees the rookies proving to be a great force for the side, while gathering around the top draft pick, quarterback, Andrew
Luck.
Pagano has deserted the Baltimore Ravens to join Colts as a head coach. Ravens, on the other hand, have taken Jim Caldwell, who was fired by Irsay along with other officials, to perform as QBs coordinator.
Also, Colts have taken onboard Bruce Arians, former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator, who is being seen effective in grouping up the players.
