ACL surgery please help!?

im haveing surgery in 5 days and i know its painful the 2nd day but my physical therapy person said that its guna be horrible (in terms of pain) the first time i come in . Y!!!! and how much pain we talking bout here?

  1. There is usually signficant pain during stretching...especially if you resist.  Take your meds before PT.  Most people rate their pain during stretching at an 8/10, but it subsides shortly after the session.  


  2. You will still be on pain meds when you first start physical therapy so while the PT will be somewhat painful it isn't all that terrible. The first session is over rather quickly and at least by then you know that you are past the surgery and on the way to getting better.  You can chill after having the PT and have some ice cream.  

    The real pain happens about ten days after surgery when you are no longer on any pain meds and the physical therapist is really working you each day. Then things can hurt some - but this is still no where near worst pain ever category.
