ACT Brumbies hire Ex-South African Rugby World Cup winning coach, Jake White, for four years
The ACT Brumbies has hired Jake White, an Ex-South African world cup winning coach, for four years. White will replace the current coach, Tony Rea, after the ongoing season of Super Rugby until the end of 2015. The ACT Brumbies have been struggling with
their form in the current season with just two victories in the matches they have played so far.
Their poor performance has already resulting in, Andy Friend, one of their coaches getting sacked. Andy Friend was sacked from his duties after the second round of Super Rugby and Brumbies produced just one victory after his departure. The Brumbies have
been placed on an overall 10th position and on the 3rd position among domestic Australian teams on the point’s table.
Jake White is quite capable of turning the failed unit in to a successful outfit as he had done so in the past. He was given the charge of the South African national team in 2004 until the end of 2007.
During these three years, he grabbed two big victories for the South Africans. The Reeboks welcomed his coaching career by winning the Tri-Nation Series in 2004 and claiming the Rugby World Cup in 2007.
Jake White has become the first South African to coach an Australian outfit. Although he was opposed by the Brumbies’ officials as their team could face communication problems with the foreigner, he won the confidence of the majority.
Jake White welcomed the decision of his appointment and commented that Brumbies are one of the greatest teams to work with. He told reporters that he had close ties with a former Brumbies’ coach, Eddie Jones, which provided him an opportunity to observe
the unit closely.
He further said that during his legitimate tenure he will try to build close relations with not only the players and officials but with the supporters as well.
The Brumbies confirmed that Jake White has agreed to sign the four-year contract with them. The chief executive officer of the Brumbies, Andrew Fagan, called his appointment a landmark, hoping that the team would groom under his vigilant eyes.
