Former Springboks World Cup winning head coach, Jake White, has geared up his 2012 Super Rugby seasons’ preparation for his new side, ACT Brumbies. The newly appointed head coach of the Australian
Super Rugby conference on Friday, August 5, announced the signing of four players to strengthen their squad for next season.
White has handed over a two-year professional contracts to four players, which includes three backs and a second row forward. Officials at the club have confirmed the signing of the players
in a statement released on their website on Friday.
The new players include lock Leon Power, utility back Zac Holmes, outside centre Tevita Kuridrani and winger Tom Cox. The trio of Cox, Holmes and Kuridrani participated in the Brumbies recently
held training camp at Narrabeen, where they impressed the Brumbies coaching staff, with their exceptional display of skills and hard work.
ACT Brumbies Backs coach, Stephen Larkham, has praised the abilities of the trio and termed their inclusion as a good addition for the side. He has provided brief details on his observations
of the trio in the recently held camp. Larkham termed Holmes as a talented player with accurate kicking skills. He further added, “Being the third quickest in recent squad testing means he will cover a number of positions for us next year, including five-eighth,
wing and fullback.”
Larkham has praised the personality attributes of Cox, alongside the youngster’s speed. He added, “He is out and out speed having recently tested fastest in our 40m speed test with a time which
would put him as one of the quickest men in Australian rugby.”
Commenting on Kuridrani, Larkham said, “He is fast, has a natural understanding of the game and has a good passing game. He will play anywhere from 12 out as he again has great versatility
like the rest of our backline.”
ACT Brumbies, Forwards Coach Laurie Fisher, has expressed his pleasure with the signing of the muscularly built, Leon Power. He has termed him the right person for the team for the next seasons’
campaign.  He added, “Leon is a big man with a good combination of game and grunt.”
The 25-year-old Power, was born in Sydney but has played most of his rugby in the New Zealand. He was part of the Bay of Plenty team in 2011 ITM Cup competition.
The 21-year-old Cox will join the Brumbies from University of Queensland and is a former Australian Football League player. While the 20-year-old Kuridrani has already played for the Australian
Sevens side. Kuridrani is a former Reds Academy product, and he will join his former Academy colleagues Kimami Sitauti and Ian Prior, who earlier have signed with the Brumbies.
