Question:

ACT scores?

Just curious, my 14-year-old took the ACT as part of a talent search for younger students. His score was 26. ANy guess on what his score at age 17 will be if he scored 26 at 14? Also, how would this "translate" to an SAT score now and in the future? I realize I'm asking you to speculate, but ACT scores mean nothing to me since I was an SAT girl.

  1. a 26 translates to about a 1760 on the 2400 SAT scale, this is several ACT points above average for a senior so by the time he is a senior he should be up in the 30's and the 2000's on the SAT

  2. Hi,

I'm a school counselor and try to keep current on these issues. As far as guessing on his future score..who knows, it will probably be quite high. As for converting ACT to SAT...there is no way, they are completely different tests and standards.

I can tell you that the trend for schools is to accept the ACT. Some may still accept SAT but you are best served with the ACT.

Also, realize that these tests are attempting to predict future success in college. Currently, they are only predicting around 25% of the students who take the test accurately. Do not use this test as a measure of intelligence, but as a tool to gain college entrance.

    Hope this helps.
