What can help me learn the type of math on the ACT test. I have been out of school for 19 yrs and want to go back to school. I tried doing the first 10 questions of an ACT sample test and got all 10 wrong!! I have not had any algebra classes ever. What can I do to learn this math? I find sample tests for the ACT but I need explanations of how to go about working the problems out. I have heard that algebra builds from one step to another. What free online resources are available to me?Any suggestions would be great.

  1. Recently having taken the ACT, I would suggest going to www.actstudent.org, the official ACT site.  You can obtain more accurate sample tests for free as well as guidelines for the test in general.  Also I would try to contact a nearby high school or college.  Old algebra textbooks may be available for little to no cost and students with math fresh on their minds could become great tutors.  Overall, the math section of the ACT consists of a lot basic algebra skills.  Even the more complex problems can be broken down into fundamentals.
