  1. 1050 out of 2400? or 1600?

if it's out of 2400 then your ACT score is better. then national average I believe is 2200.

It could just be that you're good a science (since the SAT doesn't have it) or you just like the format better.

I  would suggest taking the ACT again since colleges wil only see your highest score

  2. Well, you have to keep in mind of the difference between both tests. For example, the ACT is shorter and it have more sections to it, like Science. The SAT focuses on Math and English. Maybe you did better on the ACT because of its organization and other subjects that it tests on. Of course, the SAT is also harder than the ACT.

  3. ACT does not penalize for guessing, SAT does.  I got a higher SAT than ACT, so go figure!

  4. I just think it's amusing that ACT scores the SAT, and Princeton scores the ACT.

  5. I don't think any of the answers are quite accurate. The tests are both very different because the ACT measures what you learned in high school, while the SAT measures you college potential. That is the major difference, but the two tests are also organized differently and the act has a science section. Although it is true that you are not penalized for guessing on the ACT, the ACT does have a lot more information that the SAT doesn't cover(for example there is trigonometry on the ACT and not on the SAT).
