Question:

ADD and PeeWee football. ?

I coach a PeeWee football team with 7 & 8 year old boys. One of the kids on the team has ADD really bad. I can not keep his attention for long periods of time. The rules state that I have to clear the bench for every time we go from defense to offense. As it is, its been a challenge to coach him without losing the other players. I have had one of the assistant coaches work with him. When he is focused, he does well.

My fear is he will not be paying attention on the field and end up getting really hurt. Have any other coaches had this issue? I don't want him to quit, but I also don't want him to end up hurt.

Any tips on how to deal with this?

  2. Tell him to take medicine that helps him stay focused there is actually medicine out there like that.

  3. akram.alkhateeb what the h**l did you just say

  4. There's not much you can do with him other than do your best.  Maybe once he gets into a game he'll focus better than in practice.

  5. cut him!

    Well, there goes my idea!

  6. yell at him all of the time so he pays attention. positive things. keep his head in the game

  7. Make a special play(in practice) and stress to him the teams dependence on him to make the play work. Don't play him all the time, just on this play. Focus him in on this call and maybe he will pay more attention on the calls from you. Kinda like a call to duty! Make him the strong arm of the play. Even if the play fails, I am sure he will try harder the next time.

  8. let him get hurt then maybe he'll pay attention

  9. man you no thet football is the best thing and my fefere team is cowboys and my best player is raym royll

  11. just tell him if he doesnt focus he gets less playing time maybe talk to his parents
