  1. an energy drink is just a soft drink with double the caffeine - that's really all it is. so now, you're probably addicted to caffeine. caffeine also has a way of boosting your energy for a little way, then wearing off afterwadrs and making you tired - therefore making you need more of it to gain back some energy. your best appraoch would be to slowly start drinking less and less every day. stopping it all at once is just going to s***w with your system, so maybe you should try to measure it not by how many cans of it you drink each day, but how much of each can. like maybe drink 2 1/2 on the first day, then 2, then 1 1/2, etc... and keep going at it that way. it's really the only thing you can do if you want to stop that badly.

  2. If you are addicted it is to the caffeine not to the energy drink itself.

Here is some basics first to have enough energy throughout the day.

    1. Get enough sleep. No matter how much caffeine or other stimulants you take there simply is no replacment.

    2. Get plenty of water. It is a natural energizer itself and can boost metabolism by 3% too. We need 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight plus 8 more ounces for every 20 minutes of exercise/activity. With hot/dry days and climates even more is needed. We can get some from food and other drinks. However, caffeine and alcohol dehydrate us so they do not count as water intake. In fact extra water mut be consumed to offset the dehydrated effects of caffeine and alcohol. When dehydrated we feel tired. Try it. Drink 2 glasses of water first thing when you wake up and you should feel enrgized within 15 minutes.

    3. Take a good quality multi vitamin/mineral supplement. Good quality ones will increase youer energy too. With nutrition you get what you pay for. Most of the ones available in stores simply are not worth the money.

    4. For energy concers take a good quality multi B complex too. Many people will tell you to just take B12 but they B vitamins work together so it is more beneficial to take them as one. Also adding a good quality ginseng wiht ginko biloba helps with energy too.

    5. Eat a good breakfast. It will give you energy in the morning to get you going.

    6. Drink green tea with your breakfast or while taking supplements in the morning. It is full of anti oxidetns, increases energy and metabolism and has a little caffeine in it for a little boost. It has only 30mg compared to the 80mg in energy drinks. At least it should help as you won't be stopping cold trukey.

Now with all of this people should not have to use coffee and energy drinks every day just to get going. If they do then they are either addicted to the caffiene or they are doing somethign wrong.

Don't get me wrong. There will always be times that we need a boost but we should not have to rely on these every day.
