ADO Den Haag’s John van den Brom close to becoming Vitesse Arnhem coach – Eredivisie news
Reports from Arnhem confirm that Vitesse Arnhem have appointed ADO Den Haag’s John van den Brom as their new manager. The 44-year-old tactician has reached an agreement with the Arnhem outfit and will be signing a contract later today that will keep him
at GelreDome Stadion until the summer of 2013.
Van den Brom, the former Vitesse midfielder, was appointed ADO’s manager at the start of 2010/11 season. The Hague outfit have always struggled in the Dutch top tier but the recently concluded season was a slight exception.
The inexperienced tactician guided his side to a seventh place finish in the league table by the end of the season. Furthermore, he managed to book a UEFA Europa League berth by winning the Europa League play-offs.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905, on the other hand, struggled to perform and finished a disappointing 15th in the league table under Albert Ferrer. The club management recently refused to extend his contract and parted company with the Spanish trainer.
Merab Jordania, who took over the financially troubled Vitesse last year, desires to lure Louis van Gaal to coach at GelreDome Stadion. Rumours were also rife that the former England and FC Twente Enschede manager, Steve McClaren, would be leading Vitesse
in the upcoming season. However, Van den Brom has emerged as the leading candidate in the last few days to take over from Ferrer.
The Arnhem outfit still have to reach an agreement with the ADO management, as the 44-year-old tactician has an ongoing contract that keeps him at Kyocera Stadion until the summer of 2012. However, given Vitesse’s financial muscle following the arrival of
Jordania, it should not be a problem.
Reports suggest that Jordania has allotted a mammoth 50 million Euros transfer budget to bring reinforcements in the ongoing summer transfer market. Should Van den Brom spend the war chest wisely, the outfit from Arnhem will certainly become a force to be
reckoned with in Netherlands in the coming seasons.
