ADO Den Haag’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237 radar – Dutch Eredivisie news
FC Utrecht are in the market for a midfielder to fill in the shoes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven. Reports in Utrecht indicate that the Utreg have set their sights on ADO Den Haag’s Wesley Verhoek.
The 24-year-old winger, who can also play as an attacking midfielder, is a product of ADO’s youth academy and started his professional career in the 2004/05 season. He has made 158 appearances so far for The Hague outfit, scoring 25 goals while assisting
a plenty.
The young winger’s performances were exceptional in the 2010/11 campaign. Verhoek played 32 matches, scored seven goals and provided 14 assists as well. His good performances have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from Chelsea FC and Aston Villa. The
Utreg are now the latest outfit to show keen interest in taking his signature in the ongoing summer transfer market.
Mark van der Kallen, ADO’s majority share holder, revealed that his side have permitted the winger to negotiate with the Utreg.
“We know that Wesley is looking for a new adventure, as he has often stated. We fulfil his wish by giving him room to talk to Utrecht”, Van der Kallen said while talking to the journalists.
The highly-rated winger has an ongoing contract with ADO that keeps him at Kyocera Stadion until the summer of 2012. Despite a host of European clubs taking keen interest in signing the winger in the ongoing summer transfer market, the ADO management is
yet to offer a contract extension to the player.
ADO finished seventh in the league table and booked their UEFA Europa League berth by winning the Europa league play-offs, owing much to Verhoek’s good performances. Reports in Dutch media indicate that ADO want to hold on to their prized asset for the upcoming
season as they will be playing in Europe’s secondary club competition.
Furthermore, the ADO management is looking to offer the 24-year-old an improved contract with a mammoth release clause that could benefit them in the future, when the winger makes his move away from Kyocera Stadion.
