Question:

ADSL conncetion in Ubuntu 8.04 no other tutorial helped!!!!?

hai guys,

i hv dual OS in my machine, vista and ubuntu 8.04. my internet connection is ADSL broadband 512mbps. i connect to internet through adsl router and network card. in vista internet is always connected. but in ubuntu it worked two or three times only. once i work and if i restart the connection would have gone.

i tried this one also "sudo apt-get install pppoeconf

sudo pppoeconf " but to no avail.

and also i cant connect to ethernet card. it always get connected to loopback.

please tell your advice.???

if you couldnt find a solution. at least tell me whether i can resolve it by reinstalling ubuntu.

  1. Make sure that your router has DHCP enabled.


  2. You are not connecting to the internet through your computer.  You might want to get the linux drivers for your particular network card and that will solve the issue, hopefully.  If not, then setup a router that connects you automatically then connect to the router.
