When i pick up my phone i don't hear enything. But my ADSL works fine? What can be the problem? I checked wiring and connections but phone doesn't work. Could it be that one plug doesn't connect one of those little wires in phone/adsl cable?

  1. Maybe the phone's broken.

  2. DSL will work if one of the two wires that make up your cable/pair is broken, it will also work if there is a short or defective phone on the line.

    quick test...

when you call your number is it busy (short on the line, possible defective phone) or does it ring (broken wire somewhere)

if you have access to your NID plug a phone directly into there to see if there is any dial tone...

if not... if the phone rang busy when you tried to call it, disconnect one at a time each phone, fax, satellite box, alarm system, etc that is connected to your dial tone... check after unplugging each device for dial tone...

iif the line rang when you called it, just not at your phones, then it is highly likely it is an outside trouble..

call your local phone company for them to test your line and schedule a repair tech to come out and fix the line

  3. adsl only needs one wire of the two that make up a dialtone..so more than likely its a bell problem..the eletronics that make your dialtone in the box on the corner are shorted out and wont allow dialtone..but will allow dsl...dsl can run across a barbed wire fence...call in a trouble report and let the tech fix it outside...goodluck...
