So Ive been working here for about a year now and a lot have changed since I started. I have 2 new bosses that are on a firing rampage. They fired 2 people that have been working here for 10 years and they had big positions. They hired this girl who has a bad attitude and flirts with all them men and has a nasty mouth, they fired her then rehired her, because I think my boss likes her in a sexual way. She yells and screams at everyone and Ive been working here longer than her and I dont do that. Anyways my boss gave me a verbal warning today claiming that I was late. I was only five minutes late. He made me sign this paper and eveything. Ive been working here longer than all of them even the bosses I think Im next they want to fire. I am the only black girl here and I feel some type of tension, they show favortism over the new girl. I asked my self I wonder what time she gets in, if shes ever 5 minutes late. and sure enough I looked at her time card and shes late everyday.

  1. That written warning for 5 mins late means they are preparing a paper trail to fire you.  There's probably nothing you can do to change that, so I recommend starting to look for a new job.

    It stinks, but it happens.

  2. I worked for a very large mortgage corporation and saw the same thing constantly! My best advise is, come into work on time, do your job to your best ability. Don't worry about the others and what they do, if you come to work and do your job the best you can, you should have no problem. Keep your head up, dont let them put you down. If you do your job well you should not worry. You had one written warning, try to avoid being late if possible. Dont give them a reason to fire you, YOU be the bigger person! If anything call HR and say you have a concern, dont lash out to them, just say people have noticed this...

    Good luck hun!

  3. Call corporate and call them NOW.  You can also have some of the males back you up and report sexual harassment.

Meanwhile, like everyone else said, start looking for that new job, or see if you can transfer to a different office.

  4. Welcome to the world of business! You are better off taking care of your own affairs and not worrying about how someone else is treated, or favored over you, regardless of the time you have been employed. Do your job to the best of your ability. Everyone is expendable, no job is forever, so learn what you can, and keep your personal habits and standards at the highest level for your own benefit! Good luck in the corporate world, it can be brutal.

  5. diarized and document  facts ( not about your feelings) but what goes on who when and what. based on your description the work ethics and environment of people and  company to me are not professionals. they are there to play more and work less. workers/company like this will not last unless it's a huge mega billion dollar corporation. meanwhile polish your resume prepare yourself and start browsing for new jobs. don't quit your job unless you really have to. if you feel you  need to make the head office aware of the situation then write them a note stating the facts. POLITICS/FAVORITISM are always present at workplace.  don't worry too much about work because it can affect your health. your good health is more important than that. good luck :)

  6. i think your boss is looking for a reason to let you go.  he may be justified in the fact that you have been there so long, and they may be looking for new "innovative" employees (meaning they want some fresh meat).   if i were you, i wouldn't waste my time pulling the race card - b/c even if you are right, it takes a h**l of a lot of proof and time to be victorious in racial accusations against employers...and you may not even really have a case.  if you want to be sure, you could contact EEO, but i personally thing you'd be wasting your time (not being racial - i am a brown person too).

start looking for new work.  they are setting you up.  i wouldn't trust them enough to talk with them about it.

    good luck!

  7. I would start looking for a new job

    It does not sound good

  8. It doesn't matter what she does, what matters is you come to work on time and do your work properly.  This is even more true if they're demanding you be on time and allowing her to be late.  The more unfair the situation, the more you will need to walk the straight and narrow.  It is completely, utterly unfair, but you must deal with it as long as you remain there, or until they fire you for some BS reason.

Someone else mentioned that companies sometimes do this to bring in new employees with new ideas.  They also do it to get rid of well-paid longterm employees and replace them with starting wage ones, or to find jobs for friends and family members, or to get a hot new secretary to replace a drab or older one.  Fortunately, there are not many people who are really that shallow and contemptible.  Unfortunately, it looks like you're working for a couple of them.

There is no advice that can help you work in an environment this hostile and unfairly run.  Do not waste your time and mind any longer on trying to figure this situation out or pondering their motives- find another job and GET OUT.  Do not put it off.  If you do, once you have gotten out you will kick yourself for every day you wasted in such a miserable place.

I hope you started looking for another job last week. I'm very sorry you're having to go though this and I wish you the very BEST of luck.
