Greek Super League continued as AEK Athens and Atromitos Athinon locked heads on Sunday, the 3rd of April, at Olimpiako Stadio. The home side looked scrappy and edged past Giorgos Donis side by a 1-0 margin. The solitary and decisive goal of the
game came from Polish midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roger-Guerreiro-c31521.
The home team went in with a 4-2-3-1 formation. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Papa-Bouba-Diop-c29102 played second striker to Blanco while Sebastian Saja started in goal for the hosts. The visitors, on the other hand, went in with a 4-3-3 formation. Stelios
Sfakianakis, Henri http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Camara-c8277 and Luis Brito started upfront while Charles-Hubert Itandje guarded the visitor’s net.
Athens, playing on their home turf, started the game as firm favourites. From the very first minute, the home side looked superior to their opponents and never allowed them to make any clear cut chances. Blanco was causing a lot of problems upfront for the
visitors but somehow they kept on surviving. Atromitos’s defence looked steady as the hosts made a number of runs forward. The home team’s back four, on the other hand, were not put to any fierce test as the hosts maintained the ball possession. The pressure
finally got better of the visitors as Guerreiro thumped his shot past Itandje in the 31st minute to earn a 1-0 lead for the Enosis. The Visitors were unable to find the equalizer as the first half came to an end.
The second half demanded some more flare and aggression from Donis’s side but they lacked the intensity. The home team, once again, was in control of the game and depended a lot on passing the ball in the middle in order to bite some time. Atromitos were
left as mere spectators as the Enosis kept on threatening the Atromitos back four. The Hosts were not in a mood to leave any open spaces for the visitors to move forward as they were found wanting. With just a few minutes on the clock remaining, the visitors
launched a rare attack on Athens goal but they were denied by resolute home team’s defence as the match ended in home side’s favour.
With this win AEK Athens find themselves third in the League table with 46 points while Atromitos Athinon are 12th in the table and just two points clear of the relegation places. Athens will now travel to Larissa on 10th of April while
Atromitos will host Olympiacos the same day.
