Football Update: AFA doesn’t renew Maradona’s contract- Maradona is free to be claimed by different clubs
Diego Maradona is most widely known as one of the legendary football players of all time and he took on a big assignment by agreeing to manage the Argentinean national team. Though even after their humiliating loss to Germany in the semi finals of the World Cup, Maradona was still expected to stay on.
He was a likely candidate to become the Argentinean team coach but when he found out that his coaching staff was to be replaced by others that he didn’t want, it infuriated him. The AFA announced Maradona's contract as national coach not to be renewed after talks between the coach and Grondona failed to produce an extension for a contract.
Grondona made it quite clear that Maradona could only be welcomed back if he accepted the association's conditions and agreed to changes in the coaching staff.
The good news is that, Maradona is free to be claimed by different clubs looking for new bosses. When thinking about where might Maradona go next, it is believed he will go somewhere he can trace his roots from, the most likely candidates for the clubs are:
A name that comes up first when the thought of managing teams and Maradona tracing his roots and pasts, it could may as well be Textil Mandiyu.
This team is currently in the Argentinean foot ball fourth division, though what tilts Maradona’s interest this way is that this is the first ever club that Maradona ever managed and this was back in 1994 and you may never know Maradona might as well just go back to the club that he started it all with. However, this seems extremely unlikely.
Another name that comes up in the long list of names with the clubs that Maradona has been involved with is Napoli and this is by far the club that Maradona has had the most success with and this may as well be the club that Maradona ends up with.
Napoli is a Series A club and finished last year as sixth in them and the club definitely wants Maradona back with them, even though the club is doing just fine without him.
One more club that comes to mind is the team called “Racing”, the team is in Argentina’s Primera Division. What attracts Maradona to them is that they have the same colours as the Argentinean national team.
This team finished eighth in position in the last season and you may never know Maradona might just as well decide to return to them.
Another amongst the contenders is the club that Maradona managed just for a short while right before playing for the 1994 World Cup and this is also the club that produced Lionel Messi.
Therefore, no one knows Maradona just may produce another to the likes of Messi from there.
Another club named Sevilla cannot be left out of this list, as this was the last European club that Maradona every played for. This time, Sevilla just may as leap forward of Real Madrid and Barcelona, as they are really looking for a win in the La Liga and with Maradona amongst their midst this just may be a real possibility this year.
As the Americans have kept Bob Bradley in the hot seat for the time being and looking for more publicity for soccer in the states, they might hire Maradona for that. No matter what the case, even if the main reason for hiring Maradona is publicity that still does not change the fact that he is one h**l of a coach.
Another name is Barcelona, even though this does seems doubtful, as Barcelona has one of the best managers there are out there but it is a possibility as Maradona once played for Barca and may as well come and nurture Messi develop further.
Another spot is for Mexico, with which Maradona registered with as a manager for the last World Cup that he won.
The last club that comes in this list for Maradona is the Boca Juniors, this is his most favourites and most memorable squad, and Maradona is almost best fit for them.
All in all, the fact that still remains that Maradona is Argentinean and Argentina loves him best, most people argue that if he should take over anywhere, then this is the place to go to.
