http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233: Frank de Boer gutted with the Johan Cruijff Shield loss – Eredivisie news

Ajax Amsterdam manager, Frank de Boer, has been left extremely disappointed following the 1-2 loss to FC Twente Enschede in the Johan Cruijff Shield. The two sides locked horns at Amsterdam Arena on Saturday, July 30.
De Boer’s men dominated the entire 90 minutes of action on the field, at home, only to finish on the losing side.
The Tukkers started the match with aggressive intent and troubled the Amsterdammers back-line frequently. The approach paid off in the 21st minute when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marc-Janko-c23484 stepped up
to take the spot-kick and found the back of the net to give the visitors a deserving 1-0 lead.
The Amsterdammers fought hard to find an equaliser in the remaining action of the opening half, but failed to trouble Nikolay Mihailov, who stood tall guarding the net for the visitors.
In the 47th minute, the Tukkers were reduced to ten men after Steven Berghuis received his marching orders following a second bookable offence. In the 54th minute, the Amsterdam giants found the much needed equaliser through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toby-Alderweireld-c35183,
whose right-footed long range shot found the back of the net to draw the score-line 1-1.
The visitors regained the lead through half-time substitute Bryan Ruiz with 22 minutes left on the clock. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-c9458 Rican International made an impressive run on the right flank before curling a left-footed shot into the back of the net, leaving Kenneth
Vermeer with no chance whatsoever.
The home side kept pressing in the closing stages of the game, but the Enschede outfit stood firm until the final whistle to seal the game 2-1, much to the dismay of the Amsterdammers.
De Boer was disappointed with the result as his side dominated proceedings on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes but failed to make it count. The Dutch trainer said in the post match press conference that his side had the better of their opposition and
deserved to win. However, he admitted that he saw some good things that assure a bright start to his side’s 2011/12 Eredivisie campaign.
“We deserved to win this game. We dominated play for the full 90 minutes. Twente got only two chances and scored both of them. Details were decisive here. I've seen some positive stuff though which promise good things ahead of the league start," De Boer
said while talking to the media.
Ajax will commence their Eredivisie title defence against De Graafschap at De Vijverberg on Sunday, August 7.
