Ajax Amsterdam managed to record a 2-2 stalemate against league leaders AZ Alkmaar at Amsterdam Arena on Saturday, October 15. Frank de Boer, the Amsterdammers head coach, was disappointed following his side’s poor show in the midfield.

“We made a comeback from 0-2 to end the match 2-2, when we were reduced to ten men. But we always win in the Arena. So eventually, I am disappointed”, De Boer said while talking to the journalists.
The Dutch mentor then went on to admit that his side played poorly and lost the ball too frequently in the midfield. However, he also praised his side for their second half performance, which ultimately salvaged a point.
“We were very vulnerable in the first-half, we lost ball on too many occasions. After the break, we dared to put immense pressure, and AZ were in trouble”, De Boer concluded.
After nine rounds of Eredivisie action, Ajax have dropped down further to the sixth spot, whereas AZ still sit comfortably at the summit of the league table.
