Ajax Amsterdam eased their way to a 4-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Derk-Boerrigter-c10972 and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored in the second-half for the Amsterdammers to claim an easy win by the end of 90 minutes,
despite a late goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexander-Büttner-c4818 for the visitors.
Frank de Boer, the Amsterdam giants manager, opted for a 4-3-3 formation with Boerrigter, Sigthorsson and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vurnon-Anita-c36486, Jan
Vertonghen, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kenneth-Vermeer-c20618 stood under the crossbar for the hosts.
John van den Brom, the Vitas tactician, also preferred the 4-3-3 formation. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-van-Ginkel-c23758, Jan-Arie van der Heijden and Davy Propper occupied the midfield. Frank van der Struijk,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeroen-Drost-c18369 and Buttner provided the defence, while Marko Meerits guarded the net.
The Amsterdammers dominated possession right from the start of the match. They created their first real scoring opportunity within ten minutes on the clock. Boerrigter sent a good cross into the box, but De Jong failed to control his header and the ball
sailed over the bar. Boerrigter was again involved in an impressive move, but Meerits brilliantly saved his effort.
The visitors had an opportunity to break the deadlock, when Bony stretched to reach a cross from Struijk in the box, but Alderweireld cleared the ball impressively.
In spite of having numerous scoring opportunities, both sides went into the break with the score-line reading 0-0.
The second-half started just as the opening half; the Amsterdammers dominated the proceedings in front of their home crowd. In the 53rd minute, the hosts took the lead deservingly through Eriksen. De Jong’s pass found the Danish ace, whose powered
effort found the top left corner.
It took only nine minutes for the home side to double their lead. when Boerrigter fired one past helpless Meerits psat the near post from distance. In the 63rdminute, the defending Dutch champions scored their third of the night when Sigthorsson
tapped in Van der Wiel’s low cross from six yards out.
The Icelandic ace scored his second of the night seven minutes later to make it 4-0, when his powered shot from 25 yards found the back of the net. After having a commanding four goal-lead, the Amsterdammers took their foot off the paddle.
However, the visitors penetrated the home side’s defence in the dying minutes of the match when Buttner tapped in after Bony’s effort hit the post. When the referee blew the final whistle, the score-line read 4-1 in favour of Ajax.
The Amsterdam giants will face SC http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar in their upcoming encounter on Saturday, September 10.
