http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AFC-Ajax-c38228 deny AS Roma approaches for Maarten Stekelenburg – Dutch Eredivisie news
In spite of Italian media reports suggesting a done deal for Ajax Amsterdam’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998, the Amsterdammers assistant coach, Danny Blind, has claimed that AS Roma have not contacted his club for the goalkeeper’s signature.
The 28-year-old is a product of the Amsterdammers’ fabled youth academy and started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in the 2002/03 season. For the past five seasons, the highly-rated goalkeeper has remained the first choice in the goal for the
Eredivisie giants.
After injuring his thumb earlier this year, the shot-stopper revealed that he would be moving away from Amsterdam Arena for pasture greener. Furthermore, the Dutch International’s departure from Ajax looks imminent as interest from the likes of Juventus
FC, AS Roma and Atletico Madrid continues to mount.
In the last couple of weeks, the Dutch International has remained heavily linked with Roma. Moreover, Stekelenburg’s agent also revealed that the Serie A outfit want his client on board.
However, Blind has remained uncertain about Stekelenburg moving to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 in the ongoing summer transfer market and revealed that he does not know anything about Roma being close to his client’s signature.
“In Italy they say that Stekelenburg is close to Roma? I do not know this, but what I can say is that no one from Roma has contacted me about this until now. Maybe Roma spoke with his agent, but not with us. He is a strong goalkeeper whose deal expires next
year and he has attracted the attention of different clubs”, Blind was quoted as saying to the media.
Stekelenburg’s current contract runs until the summer of 2012 and reports suggest that the Dutch champions would not let go off their prized asset for anything less than 10 million Euros.
The Giallorossi had earlier set their sights on Bologna FC’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emiliano-Viviano-c12483. However, Viviano moved to Inter Milan, leaving the Yellow-Reds scouring the market for replacements.
With Stekelenburg open to a move abroad in the ongoing summer transfer market, the Serie A outfit should consider signing the Dutch International. Furthermore, the successful transfer of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463 to Manchester United from Atletico Madrid has also made
a move to Italian capital more likely for the Dutch International.
La Maggica management must act quickly to sign the 28-year-old if they have any intentions to add the goalkeeper to their ranks, as Alexandre http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Doni-c11553 has been heavily linked with a move to join Liverpool FC in the coming days.
