AFC Ajax’s Frank de Boer confident of securing the title against FC Twente – Eredivisie news
Frank de Boer, Ajax Amsterdam manager, is brimming with confidence ahead of his side’s title-deciding encounter against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede at Amsterdam Arena on Sunday, May 15. De Boer admitted that the opposition side has good players, but still he believes
that his side has what it takes to defeat the outfit from Enschede.
Boer said, “We have a lot of respect for Twente, but we are confident that we have what it takes to beat them with the support of our fans to clinch the league title. We have to learn from last week's KNVB Beker final loss. We have to come up with a solution
for their aerial prowess.”
The Amsterdammers lost 3-2 against the Tukkers in KNVB beker Cup final at De Kuip Stadion on Sunday, May 8. De Boer admitted that his side made mistakes in the Dutch cup final and eventually went on to lose the match.
De Boer believes that the upcoming encounter against FC Twente would be completely different and admits that this match is going to be the most important game in his managerial career.
“These are the kind of games where the big players will step up to prove their worth, whereas other players will possibly struggle to cope with the pressure. This is probably the most important match of my coaching career, but I'm pretty relaxed right now.
That will probably be different on Sunday though.” De Boer said.
The Amsterdammers currently sit second in the league table, trailing the league leaders FC Twente by a solitary point. Ajax have to bag all three points in their last match of the 2010/11 Eredivisie campaign if they want to be crowned Dutch champions.
Should Ajax manage to win the match in front of their home crowd, they will lift their 30th Eredivisie title. Meanwhile, the Tukkers would be looking to secure a point or more to successfully defend their title and complete a domestic treble;
they have already won the Johan Cruijff Shield and KNVB beker Cup.
