AFC Ajax’s Frank de Boer hopes to succeed in Europe and Eredivisie – Dutch Eredivisie news
Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, is optimistic for the new season after steering his side to the Eredivisie title in the season ended. The Dutch trainer is hoping that his side perform impressively both on the domestic front and in Europe.
At the start of the 2010/11 campaign, Martin Jol was holding the reigns of the Amsterdammers. However, Jol decided to step down as the head coach in December 2010 due to his side’s poor performances. Boer was handed over the head coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 and he did exceptionally
well in achieving a historic 30th Eredivisie title in the club’s history.
The Amsterdam giants earned automatic qualification to play in UEFA Champions League. The Dutch trainer hopes for his side to succeed in the new season and reveals that he wants his side to play their own game in the Europe’s primary club competition.
“I want to play our own game in Europe. We will not assume that we are going to win Champions League, but we do want to reach as far as possible. With this team, we can make things difficult for a lot of teams”, Boer said while talking to the media.
In the ongoing summer transfer window, Ajax have remained busy reinforcing the squad for the new season, though, PSV Eindhoven and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede have also added new faces to their ranks.
The 41-year-old believes that his side have a good chance to successfully defend their title, but admitted that PSV and Twente will provide stiff competition to the Dutch champions.
“With this team, we can become champions yet again, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 and Twente also remains solid after making good purchases. It will be difficult, but I have a lot of confidence”, the Dutch trainer added.
With the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Derk-Boerrigter-c10972, the Amsterdam giants have enhanced their squad and now stand a better chance of defending their title.
However, chances of success in Europe remain slim as ever with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, AC Milan and Inter Milan being perennial contenders.
