The Dutch International has reached an agreement with La Liga outfit over a five-year deal.
Reports from Amsterdam confirm that Ajax Amsterdam defender, Gregory van der Wiel, has reached a personal agreement with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863. His contract will run until the end of the 2016/17 campaign.
The highly-rated right-back is a product of the Amsterdammers fabled youth academy, Jong Ajax. He started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in the summer of 2007 and managed to cement his place in the club's starting eleven early in his career.
The Dutch International has thus far played 120 matches for De Joden, providing rock solid defence while managing to add his name to the score-sheet on ten occasions.
Ajax recently turned down La Liga outfit’s offer for the highly-rated right-back. However, the club management reportedly gave permission to the Spanish top tier side for holding talks with the 23-year-old.
Although both clubs are still in talks over the transfer fee, the Dutch stopper has already completed negotiations with Los Che over his contract. The 23-year-old will pen down a five years deal with the outfit once both clubs reach an agreement over the
transfer fee.
“The clubs are still negotiating, but I expect them to reach an agreement. I have already spoken with Valencia and have agreed terms. If everything goes according to plan, I will sign a five-year deal”, Van der Wiel said while talking to the journalists.
The 23-year-old’s impressive performances at Amsterdam Arena in the recent years managed to attract interest from a host of elite European clubs. However, the right-back chose to join Los Che.
However, the Dutch stopper made it clear that he will stay at Ajax until the end of the ongoing season and will not join the Spanish top tier outfit until the start of the 2012/13 season.
Reports indicate that the Amsterdammers will not let go of Van der Wiel, who has an ongoing contract with the Amsterdam giants until the summer of 2013, for anything less than 10 million Euros.
