AFC Ajax’s Maarten Stekelenburg welcomes Theo Janssen’s arrival at Amsterdam Arena – Eredivisie news

will certainly add tons of experience to their midfield.
The 29-year-old midfielder earlier desired to leave his side in the summer, and the outfit from Amsterdam were quick to add the midfielder to their ranks. Earlier this week, Janssen signed a contract that will keep him at Amsterdam Arena for the next two
seasons. Ajax have reportedly acquired his services by offering 3.5 million Euros in transfer fee to the Tukkers.
Stekelenburg has welcomed Janssen’s arrival in the squad and believes that this signing will help Ajax compete at highest levels in the upcoming season.
Stekelenburg said, “His coming is good for Ajax and good for Theo. I think we must be very happy at Ajax. In Twente, we have already seen this season what a good player Janssen is. He has a good insight and also a great kick, perhaps the best in Europe.”

managed to lift his first silverware with the Tukkers, when the outfit from Enschede became Dutch champions in 2009/10 season.
The veteran midfielder played an important role in his side’s Eredivisie triumph but his performances this season were far better than last term. However, the Dutch International was left disappointed as his side handed the league title to the Amsterdammers
on the final day of the season.
Stekelenburg has good terms with the 29-year-old midfielder as both play for the Dutch national side.
“You can certainly laugh with Theo in any event, he brings atmosphere. Good boy for the group to have.” The 28-year-old shot-stopper praised his international teammate.
Janssen’s inclusion in the squad will certainly help the outfit from Amsterdam to successfully defend their Eredivisie title in the 2011/12 season. Nonetheless, the Amsterdammers are still looking to spend further in the summer transfer market to strengthen
their squad ahead of next season’s UEFA Champions League.
