AFC Ajax’s Nicolai Boilesen denies moving to Barcelona FC – Dutch Eredivisie news
Ajax Amsterdam’s Nicolai Boilesen made his debut at Amsterdam Arena only two months earlier, but has impressed Barcelona FC scouts with his good performances in the back-line. Earlier reports had suggested that the Catalans are interested in signing the
young defender in the ongoing summer transfer market, but the 19-year-old has denied moving to La Liga giants.
The promising youngster is a product of the Amsterdammers’ youth academy and started his professional career earlier this year at Amsterdam Arena. The Danish U-21 International only made six appearances, but his performances were enough to attract reported
interest from Barca and Manchester United.
In knowledge of interest from elite European clubs, the youngster has revealed that he wants to prolong his stay at Amsterdam Arena to further develop his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Skills-c40539. However, he admitted that the interest did flatter him.
“These rumours do flatter me much, but my future is definitely at Ajax. I would prefer playing with Ajax rather than sitting on the bench with a bigger club. I have a lot to learn yet. I have the starting place with Ajax and will not discard it by moving
to another club”, Boilesen was quoted as saying to the media.
The 19-year-old left-back, who is believed to be an ideal replacement for Eric Abidal in the future by Pep Guardiola, then went on to admit that denying a move to Barca is difficult, but revealed that such a move would be harmful for his development.
“Nobody says no to Barcelona, that is probably right, but I am only 19. For me, the most important thing is to play to further enhance my skills”, the promising young defender concluded.
The 19-year-old, who is currently eyeing to win the European U-21 Championship with Danish U-21 side, has an ongoing contract with De Joden that keeps him at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2013.
However, reports claim that the Amsterdammers management is looking to offer him a contract extension with a hefty release clause in the coming weeks to ward off interest from elite European clubs.
