AFC Ajax’s Siem de Jong believes his side can beat AZ Alkmaar – Dutch Eredivisie news
Ajax Amsterdam’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Siem-de-Jong-c33482 believes that his side has the quality to emerge victorious against AZ Alkmaar, current league leaders, in their upcoming encounter.
Despite losing two back-to-back encounters against Real Madrid and FC Groningen respectively, the 22-year-old has expressed satisfaction on his side’s performances.
Real Madrid, who cruised to an impressive 3-0 win, ripped apart the Amsterdammers in their mid-week UEFA Champions League encounter. The defeat was not a surprise, as the odds were never in favour of the Amsterdam giants.
Ajax then went on to lose 1-0 against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119 in their league encounter on Sunday, October 2, that has left them trailing the league leaders AZ by six points.
Although the Dutch champions did not perform to their best in the last two encounters, De Jong has expressed satisfaction on his side’s performances on the pitch.
“Unlike in Madrid, we were not playing good football from the start of the match against Groningen. Despite the defeat, we played impressively against Real Madrid and felt good. But after losing against Groningen, we are feeling pretty bizarre”, the midfielder
said while talking to the Dutch media.
Nonetheless, the Dutch ace is looking confident that his side can emerge victorious in their upcoming league encounter against AZ. The attacking midfielder has urged his side to stage a good show right from the start of the match and bag all three points
by the end of 90 minutes.
“Ajax plays against AZ at home in two weeks. We must rectify our mistakes. We must play good football right from the start. With this team and this play, we can beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571”, De Jong concluded.
Ajax will host the outfit from Alkmaar at Amsterdam Arena on Saturday, October 15. De Jong, who is a part of the Amsterdammers squad since the 2007/08 season, would be hoping that his side put up an impressive show in front of their home crowd and cruise
to an easy win.
