AFC North leader Baltimore Ravens host Dallas Cowboys with win on mind – NFL Preview
The Baltimore Ravens have lost only one game this season, which was only a single point defeat to Philadelphia Eagles, and the team aims to continue the impressive run of wins when they host the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday (Oct. 14).
QB Joe Flacco has ripped through some strong defences in the league and his game will be crucial to the team’s win target of this weekend. Coaches and the player himself have boasted preparedness for the next game and said they will definitely target a victory
over the visitors.
Flacco, who is enjoying the run offence, has been unstoppable this season, playing much better than last year, thanks to hard work of Ravens QBs coach Jim Caldwell.
With Flacco in prime touch, the Ravens are leading the American Football Conference (AFC) North with the record of 4-1, while their rivals the Cincinnati Bengals with 3-2, the Pittsburgh Steelers 2-3 and winless Cleveland Browns are struggling far behind
them.
Although a win should not be an easygoing for the Ravens, especially when the coach has pointed out some areas for improvement, they do hold an edge over the visitors.
The Ravens have the home-field advantage but that does not translate to increased victory chances. The team needs to display excellent skills at all position to confirm a win.
Coach John Harbaugh is still not pleased with the team’s performance. He said they were still doing some of things which do not justify their experience and profile in the league and that those mistakes can easily be worked out.
He said:
"There are a lot of things we're not pleased with. We're chasing our A-game every week. We want to have our A stuff. It's like a pitcher, we want to have our best stuff every week. We didn't have our best stuff."
The coach’s pinpointed issue, however, should not fall as a worrisome development and the official has backed the players to keep the momentum going without any fear.
On the other hand, Ravens defence, which has been their traditional strength, has made their opponents wary of their challenges.
Cowboys defensive lineman Marcus Spears has warned his teammates to be prepared for a rough game.
He said:
"You know they're going to be physical. They play that way. That's their style. Obviously they've been playing great ball for a while. But we've got to go up there and handle our business. It's not about them, it's about us."
Overall, it appears the game will be played in very competitive conditions, with both sides heading on the field with victory clearly in their minds.
