Hey,

Im interested in doing the AFF skydiving course. Can anyone tell me roughly (on average) how much this is going to set me back, and what it consists of? (i know its 7 jumps).

Also, i need clarification, to do the AFF skydiving course do you have to have completed the static line course first to progress onto freefall, or can you just start with the full AFF course? I have done a tandem jump before but thats all.

Cheers

  1. The dropzone will determine if you can go right into AFF or do a Static Line, Tandem progression or other student training method.  It depends on the equipment the DZ owns and the ratings the instructors hold.

I went through AFF about three years ago and did it in eight jumps (I failed level 3 the first time through).

AFF has ground training where you learn the basics for gear, parachute flight, control, landing patterns and most importantly emergency procedures.  The seven different jumps have different free fall skills you need to learn.

You can download the Skydiver Information Manual, or SIM, from the United States Parachute Association website and learn more about the skills and information you will be learning.

I love the sport of skydiving.  I did my tandem over three years ago, then went through AFF and now I have 400+ jumps and hold the USPA Coach rating.  You get into the sport for the rush and you stay for the people.

    Blue Skies!
