With so much misery caused with the in the back rule this season, is it time to change and replace committee members like Kevin Bartlett now out of the game for many years and Caroline Wilson, never in the game!. With so many recent retirees, Pagan, Sheedy, Daniher ,Kouta, Hird Buckley, Ricuitto,Darcy, and Clement, wouldn't these people be more in tune with the modern game .

  1. Just leave the game alone, coaches will always come up with new tactic ts so just let it evolve naturally.

  2. Yay!  You have my vote mate.

You've got to wonder what they're trying to achieve don't you?  Sure, they've done things that speed the play up and they SAY they're trying to protect the player going for the ball, but it seems all the rules have been set up for the actors and vital ones like 'kicking in danger' have been forgotten.

With the hand in the back, well is this meant to be a game for fairies?  What happened to the day where it was up to the player under the ball to hold their position? A shove with the hands yep free kick.  A balancing touch - no way.  Will we ever see another Ablett 'mark of the century' or Jesaulenko screamer, both of which involved a 'hand in the back' by the modern interpretation.

Fair dinkum it's gonna get like league where they now give away penalties for 'pushing in the scrum'.  And if it does, I'll hand back my membership and watch soccer like Rogue.

The other thing they have to get consistent on is the play on rule.  Half the time they never get near the mark before they hand ball, other times the whole game comes to a grinding halt while the player and mark are lined up centimetre perfect.

  3. RAY says it perfectly, and CUTEMUM too!

What ever happened to the kicking in danger rule?

I actually did see it enforced ONCE this season, and was totally amazed that the umpire even knew what it was.

Footy is a Mans game, it is rough and it is tough, and the men that play it don't need some fairy type rule like 'touching' someones back to give away a free!

    WHat's next? Wings? Fairy dust?

And Caroline Wilson should put on a pair of footy shorts and go out there and spend 25 minutes on the field! Lets see if that doesn't shut here big mouth!!

God I'd love someone to give her a good hip n shoulder!!

  4. Definitley. It is c**p how the hands in the back rule is in place and hey...im an umpire talking (not AFL....junior AFL).

I hate having to pay it as it is a natural thing to do...kep your space.

The players hate it, the umpires hate, the spectators hate it.

GET RID OF IT BECAUSE WE ABSOLUTLEY HATE IT!

  5. Yes...I agree.

Footy is a mans game and if they can't push and shove each other even throw a few punches now and again this game of Footy will one day be called DON'T TOUCH ME!!!!

Bring in Sheedy, then we will see footy like it was in the 70's.

  6. I'm not so worried about K.B. as he has his finger on the pulse of things with his daily radio program, and is open minded.

Caro is another thing  though, can't quiet work her out, especially as she is a journo, and wouldn't know how a guy felt. Unless of course she is an Alpha male in drag.

Yes, a change is always beneficial with committees, especially with sporting organisations, who by the very nature of them, keep churning out younger players with a new set of problems and contracts.

If I were selecting replacements, it would need to be players who have just retired and not old coaches who have had a good run and are set in their ways.

Also many of the "just retired" players have  completed business and other management courses which many of the more senior coaches would not have needed at the time.

Some of the names that you mentioned have many strings to their bows, which could be wasted if they move away from a game that they had a passion for, and can still have input.

  7. I'm with you all the way mate. While we're at it lets look at the people we have in charge of our game.

  8. Yep the game is turning to S*** its just like circle work now, playing keepings off.

Where have all the skillful players gone , now you have to be an endurance runner not a footballer.

I am very quickly loosing interest.

Rugby Union looks good at the moment.

  9. Absolutely 100% agree.

Bring some 'new blood' to the committee who are in touch with the game of today and can bring so very valueable experience.

The push in the back rule has become a joke - it is a contact sport, yet these dinosaurs are trying to turn the game into ballet with players expected to prance around eachother without contact.

I agree with you guys, let the boys get rough and dirty, let the game be what its supposed to be.

Caroline Wilson - Put the fairy wings and wand in hand and go participate in some other sport.

  10. I agree, but Archer would have to be on the committee.
