  1. I think it would be fair to get a 17th team...but in Tassie or NT. Of course NT would be a bit hard with the heat, bt theres always TAssie.

Anyway advantages: More opportunity for young players. More people supportig AFL because people would more likely go for a team near them. More publicity with it going on the news.

Disadvantages: Costs more money. Odd number are g*y. Might change the balance ?? Ummm. Too much compettion. Might take a long time to get started. May never become successful, therefore would be a waste of the AFLs money if it ends up collapsing. MAy not have enough interest.

    Hows that?? =]

  2. The AfL are actually trying to reduce the number of teams in melbourne. Relocating has been mentioned but you will lose a supporter base. The Kangaroos were touted as moving to the Gold Coast. 17 teams would also introduce a bye every week. Not good for business.

  3. well the AFL is expected 18 teams by 2010...

some sayy it wont work but it has worked before (adding teams i mean!)

I think the major issue is zoning. i beleive the have decided on west sydney and GC...... but this decision is quite questionable. make no mistake there is places more wearthy than west sydney. I understand though that this decision was made to give each state 2 sides... if this must be so then i beleive coughs harbour would have been better but and even better option would have been to seperately give the 2 remaining state a team (NT and tasmania)im not sure on where nt stand facility wise but tasmania is good to go.

  4. There will actually be 18 teams when they go ahead with it, at this stage there is no disadvantages except having to choose another winner in the football tab. the advantage is financial boost for that area.

  5. I think Kangaroos should move to the Gold Coast, Melbourne and WB merge and have another Sydney team.

  6. When new clubs start up, existing clubs are apparently FORCED to give them players. And not just the dud players, that have to give away players with a certain level of experience and potential. I think that's a huge disadvantage.

Also, the amount of money that has been poured into the interstate clubs over the past 10 years- some Victorian clubs are suffering enough without another club being added to take up all the AFL's money.

Advantages? Can't see many. I think there are enough teams as there is, and I think they cover enough of the country. 17/18 would be too many I think.
