Hi I need to coach a 20min session on bouncing and kicking on the run.

is a kick on the run anything specific, as a pass to another player or jus kicking it down the field? can be it be low to the ground or high?

If anyone knows of any fun sport related warm ups drills that would be awesome

And any simple drills that would teach how to bouce or kick on the run, or a fun liile game that would include both

Cheers

  1. There are a few games you can use in a training exercise, divide the boys/girls into two even teams, put cones or something similar about 50 meters away, 1 by 1 the kids bounce the ball all the way to the 50 mtr marker, turn and have a couple more bounce and pass to the next in line, it is a race between the two teams, if the pass does not hit the next kid, the kicker has to retrieve the ball, and get it to him by foot or handball.

of course a pass should be low, it will get there quicker, you achieve this by pointing the toe in the kick, it will help keep the ball on a lower path.

warm up drills are more fun when you use the balls, divide markers into a rectangle shape and make two teams, with scoring occurring when you get the ball to your goal, make small.

you have to have you have 3 seconds to get rid of the ball or its turnt over to the other team, the aim is to get young players to think quicker in game situations, players should warm up in these types of games because that is want they encounter when they actually play a game.

    'game sense' we call it.

good luck with it all, just make it fun and you can't go wrong.

  2. Kick on the run is just that, a kick without a pause to aim more specifically - takes far more skill than to take a stationary free kick, for example.

Line your team up around the boundary then get one to kick to you in the middle, you swing round and kick to the person on your far left, he has to get past you bouncing the ball and kick to the far right, and so on...

    Good luck coach!

  3. just watch Jay Nash from the Bombers on the weekend, he does a great job at it

  4. Well since you said fun, it sounds more like a class activity.

Set out 2 lines, However far from the goals, depending on age / kicking ability.

Sort out 2 teams, 2 balls in each line.

The first 2 have to run towards the goals, taking however many bounces - depending on distance - say, 5, before kicking for goal.

As soon as they kick, regardless in, or out, they retrieve the ball and run back to their line.

While they are running back, the second pair repeat.

The first 2 contenders must kick their ball back from a set line back to their line.

    Repeat.

    Least its fun!

  5. Bouncing on the run is quite simple, you just have to bounce the ball further in front as you are running. When kicking on the run, you shouldn't be going flat out. When about to kick slow up and steady then kick.
