  1. as well as that, work on your endurance.

as an umpire, we need to be fitter and and last longer than the players during the match.

work on your endurance running once or twice a week...it may pay off late in a game!!

  2. Running is essential for developing a strong base fitness level and this should be one of the main areas of your training. Try doing a few longer jogs with a few sprint sessions mixed in.

Swimming and cycling can improve other areas of your fitness without the repetive strain of running.

To improve marking just grab your footy and throw it up in the air and mark it. I know it sounds stupid but your marking and judgement will dramatically improve.

A good way to improve kicking is to practise bouncing the ball with either hand as this helps guiding the ball down onto your foot which in turn makes you kick better. Also look at your action in a mirror or window and see what positive changes can be made.

Good luck for the footy season!

  3. Just join a local club and train hard , they are always looking for new players
