  1. I think one way or the other they should make a decision and stick to it. By playing here, there and everywhere and leaving their future in doubt they lose a large part of their identity and the club's soul.

People aren't going to follow a club they can't identify with because they aren't sure what the club is actually about.

If the only two options are the status quo or move to the Gold Coast on a permanent basis then I say YES!!!

  2. I may stand corrected but i think the Brisbane Lions have the second lowest membership in the AFL even after all their recent success so i can't see that having another team just down the road is going to help either team.

The NBL and the NRL both have a team in New Zealand so lets send them over there so that i have an excuse to go over for a holiday when they play the Crows

I'm just another interstater so i won't suggest that perhaps Richmond,Melbourne,Kangaroos,Western Bulldogs should merge into two teams

    No

  3. I feel for the fans but it's all about the money these days...

  4. Yep!

    Take the money and run!!!

  5. they should just fold now, they are going nowhere, they just don`t have enough supporters

  6. I'd say given the Cats were proud of a $1.87 million porfit this year, that's the next 50 years profit covered.

BUT .... If they were offered anything like that, the question I would ask is why should other clubs pay $6.7 million each to save a club that can't save itself?  With all due respect to its supporters (it ain't their fault) but other clubs have been in worse trouble and managed their way out.  Then you could give them salary cap exclusions, an exclusive recruiting zone and half a dozen priority picks for the next ten years and call them the swans ... oops sorry, wrong club.

  7. Take the money!!!

    That is heaps

  8. They will end up with less supporters if they move. I know membership is lagging behind the other teams but how will this improve if they go up to the Gold Coast? QLD is still a rugby state. Their own team the Bears already merged with Fitzroy. I don't know if they would embrace another team moving in. If the AFL want to throw their money around, they should be assisting teams to stay put where they at least have the majority of their supporters. I would not be able to see them play a home game in QLD. It is bad enough waiting for them to come to WA - and not having many supporters at the game. How many fans will actually be going to support them at home games on the Gold Coast?

  9. If it was Hawthorn i would still want them to stay in Vic.

    No go for me.

  10. Take the money, it will set them up for quite awhile, also they will gain more members from the gold coast than the Lions have gained from Brisbane.

  11. NO DEAL!

I pray they do everything they can to keep the Roos in Melbourne where they belong.

How long would 100 million last really?  With minimal supporters etc.  they will use that up in no time.

Give 'em 50 million and keep them in Melbourn I say!

  12. Are you sure you got this figure right? If so then the AFL must REALLY want a team at GC. The Roos would be crazy not to take it.

Maybe they are waiting for their fans to rally behind them and help them stay in Melbourne.

PS, that was my footy joke deedubya

  13. Hundred mill- that would be what running cost for what 4 years if that

vs loosing their current memberships and possible future memberships

the question is where they move to will they have more memberships than they have now?

Will they get more sponsorship $$ where they relocate to

more importantly can they trun the club around financially within the 4 odd years that the 100 mill buys them breathing room?

I think a merger would be the more likely senerio but having said that who would merg with them- carton maybe? who knows

frankly the risk is not worth it

  14. I think they should go to the Gold Coast

  15. i think they should stay in melbourne. relocating them is ridiculous. its not just the players but their families too. just keep them where they belong in melbourne.

  16. No thanks.

If Roos fans have any passion for their club, they will buy memberships and keep them in Melbourne, where they belong.

And I think we've heard enough about Nth Melb being an industrial suburb, blah blah. The vast majority of any teams fans arent from that area. Example - COLLINGWOOD. Inner city low class suburb. Massive support base though.

  17. I think the Roos hop to the Gold Coast? Oh, that was a terrible joke.

If the league gives North 100mil, good bye.

  18. the more AFL in QLD the better! I don't know how any sane Aussie could watch anything else. And how about we picket the TV stations until they actually play the Australian game live and not at 1am the next day.I think I saw my club)hawthorn twice live last year

  19. if they dont take this deal they are gone withing 2 years, guarenteed. they are so far in debt at the moment its almost inevitable, but i dont think they will move for some reason. they have a lot of pride and moving will also put a huge thorn in the sides pride.

imo, i want them to make another team on the coast, the gold coast ninjas lol.

  20. Oh I don't know!!!!

If it IS a do or die situation,I guess my beloved Roos will have to take the offer.

All good things must come to an end one day and unfortunately this is it for the Kangaroos.

I really hope some miracle will happen, but I doubt it.

    I am sure it's inevitable.  :(

    Very Sad Kangaroos Supporter.

    End of an Era.
