AFL supporters, what do you think when you see a Green and Gold jumper?

Question

Like the Australia Wallabies, Australia Kangaroos, (Both World Cup winners) Australia Socceroos, Hockeyroos, Boomers, Opals etc.

There seems to be a lack of Green and Gold in the AFL. Why is that?

um, the olympics, rugby. probably becoz those colours are ugly colours. i hate yellow.

I think, everytime I see  a green & gold jumper, as to why Australians wear that colour.

Our colours are red, white & blue. Against Ireland, Brazil, South Africa etc - who has mainly green in their national colours - Aussies must wear a different colour.

Take that wishy-washy hybrid Gaelic game for instance, we had to wear blue!

Before you all start - I know they wear G & G because it's the colour of our wattle trees when in bloom.

I believe green and gold are colours also used by Cuba, Brazil, and South Africa...but I could be wrong.

As these colours are commonly representing national teams perhaps that is why an AFL team has not or cannot adopt them.

We are all Aussie teams in AFL and the only international team we play are Ireland and they have the monopoly on everything green.

Plus you would have to be pretty stupid not to know its an Australian game and not international, thats why there is no need for green & gold. Duhh

Mr Dropkick,i think great its the Aussie green and gold and i support accordingly,but that's the advantage of playing a foreign sport like Rugby union/league,or soccer where as AFL a truly original AUSSIE sport and i think you'll find anyone around the world will acknowledge the fact, is just a better game,and personally I'm happy to have only played on OUR SHORES,it keeps it unique

add: how are the crowd numbers going in the ARL?? even the Aussie vs N.Z centenary had 34,000 what a laugh haha.keep punching!

Don't think there will ever be an Australian Football World Cup. The Irish International is a bit of a farce imho. There won't [I hope] be a American Football [gridiron] World Cup either. [d**n boring game]

Aussie Rules can be the fastest, most spectacular football game played.... let's keep it to ourselves.

As for the green and gold... we should drop it in favour of maroon ;-)

well green and gold are the colours for national teams.  AFL teams are not national teams.  They do wear green and gold when they play gaelic football matches.
