Question:

AFL uniforms... bras?

I've seen lately that some footy players wear those bra-like things under their shirts (Freo, Port Adelaide). They look like sports bras but why are footy players wearing them? It is not as if they are unfit and have man b***s to support. hehe

But basically I wanna know why they wear them.

  1. You know how people wear those things around their knees/elbows etc? Like compression bandages or whatever. I think it's something like that for the chest muscles.

  2. its mainly the interstate teams

they are a bit confused if you know what i mean

  3. cos their mummies told them to always wear a singlet in cold weather - but they want to be cool so the singlet is cut to show the navel.

  4. I wanna find out too! Its really funny! lol

  5. I think because they play AFL and they are all unfit people

    M-E-L B-O-U R-N-E Melbounre storm FC

  6. they r things that moniter the players' heart rates and stuff..

also like how far they run during a game and at what speeds and stuff like that

  7. i believe they are like skins except mayb more focussed on those upper chest muscles?? yeh any way they are like compression clothes that help in sport performance and training. basically they limit lactic acid build-up give you better circulation while keeping you warm and absorbing sweat =)

  8. it goes with the shorts

  9. I think they have a nav. sat. device thats records all sorts of information from the player, thing like heartrate to metres covered during a game, this is then downloaded and used by the clubs to improve player performance

  10. haha aw im so glad you asked this question! i was wondering the exact same thing, when i think it was... robbie warnock who got his shirt ripped (as usual) and he was wearing one, and i was like "what is that!?" lol

so yeah, it must be either

    a) a tracker device.. like they have on hockey teams -or-

    b) to keep the chest muscles warm or something like skins

  11. Because the AFL is churning out a mob of poonces!

The players are wearing thigh length tights under their shorts; flack jackets; helmets; knee guards; gloves; shoulder strapping; banages over just about every joint etc....

They are becoming worse than American grid iron players - one couldn't hurt an AFL player nowadays even if you shot him with a bazooka! Not like the old days when men were men.

  12. **It's some kind of monitor that they're wearing I think.  I agree with you though, I think they look like sports bras.**

  13. Maybe it's a wharfie thing?

  14. Yeah I agree with Gary

Its a heart rate monitor, as well as a player tracking device, which covers how far they run / walk in a game
