AFS pricing?

According to the website, a semester exchange to Italy has a "Participation Fee" of $5,500 and "Mandatory Fundraising" of $4,000. Does this mean you only have to pay $1,500 that is NOT fundraised? Or that you must pay $5,500 in ADDITION to the $4,000 you fundraised, making the total cost $9,500?

  1. AFS is one of the best programs -- unfortunately one of the priciest too! I'm afraid that you probably have to pay both unless you have a scholarship.

Rotary is considerably cheaper, however it's more expensive. You might also look into Aspect, YFU and ASSE to compare some prices. I think they are all as reliable and all offer a similar product.
