  1. if this is the first time then I suggest you to be more careful. Because you will be easily prone to many infections and also mosquitoes may cause lot of disesases like elephentiasis, malaria etc.

Follow these tips to prevent such deseases:

Apply some mosquito repellent ointment all over you body.

Try to buy a mosquito repellent odorizer which can be plugged like a night bulb. Also if possible use mosquito repellent coils. Anyways this is summer so mosquitoes may not be that bad. But, make sure you not moving close to stagnated ponds or ditches and dustbins.

  2. there are no mosquitos in big ciry.

  3. yeah... dont go at all.

  4. We take deet and it seems to work.  The Mosquitos are mainly in the country, not so bad in the cities.  Also I hope you have your Malaria tablets.  You should take one a week before you go, one once a week while there and take one a week for two weeks after you return. I picked up our tabs today. 21 days and we return to Vn, ya.  Good Luck.

  5. You should be scared of them mosquitoes in Vietnam. I thought I had seen some big mosquitoes when I was in Texas until I went to Vietnam. Aside from the size is the nasty stuff that they can infect you with.

Use insect repellent during the day. "Off" and other American insect repellent brands are sold at the co-op and other markets there. There are some home remedies in Vietnam that seem to do the trick too. You'll have to ask a native there for the home remedy.

Use mosquito nets over your bed at night and especially during the summer and rainy seasons. A real good trick is to burn a candle in your bedroom at night. The mosquitoes and other bugs will go to the candle like a magnet and meet their fiery demise.

The rule about smiling while riding a motorcycle is the same in Vietnam as it is here. You will end up with a bunch of bugs in your teeth if you smile. God forbid a bug bounces off one of your incisors and ends up down your throat.

    Good luck and have fun!

  6. Buy some spray stuff that keep mosquitos away from u. It always work. And if u're going to some clean places, there are not gonna be that much mosquitos and if have they're not dangerous. But if u're goin' to countryside, be careful or u might end up getting a desease of being bite by mosqitos ( HIV, " sot ret ",....). & u can die!!

  7. They are only close air support for the rats.

  8. I really have to agree with neighbor on this one.

I spend a couple of months in Vn every year. We live in the Mekong Delta, and apart from a mosquito net, I do not bother with sprays, repellents or malaria pills. I took the pills on my first trip and couldn't donate blood for three years after it.

Maybe I'm just a big, dumb, un-appetizing American, but I've never had a problem, and I work in my orchards when I'm there.

  9. At night, you should sleep in mosquitos NET. Day time - no worry - Don't stay in the dark place. You will be all right.
