my friend does aikido and i was awe stuckwith the way he gentely executed power, i am 14 and tall for my age (177cm), i am also a bit fat, but i have strong legs, very good core strength and average arms. there are various clubs in my neighbourhood. But they only offer yoshinnkan or iwama style,

so what are the fundemental differences and which one is more practical.

ps: i dont know if this makes any difference but i studied taekwondo for a few years.

  1. If your looking for something practicle I would never think of Aikido but if you have your mind set on it do Yoshikan, still, Aikido is very very iffy, we had an Aikido guy in our BJJ class, he tryed doing all this wierd stuff when we rolled and none of it would work whe the other person was not complient, he ended up being submited by BJJ white belts who had a few weeks training and I havent seen him back after his first trial week

  2. Don't worry about the style.  Go to a Dojo where you think the instructors are competent, the class is informative, and you can have fun.

  3. phisical stregnth and some other streght to do with the mind
