AIM over FACEBOOK? WHY?

i have and aim sn and i really want to get a facebook. i'm trying to convince my mom and dad that facebook is safer. please help me think of ideas why its safer and better than AIM.

There different things AIM is a instant messenger. Facebook is a social networking site. Facebook you can meet strangers. So really AIM is safer but its a different thing. If you are cautious and dont go and meet someone then there would be no problem.
