AJ Burnett succumbs to Vernon Wells’ onslaught as Blue Jays destroy Yankees 7 – 5 (Part - 3)

The Toronto Blue jays are ranked 4th in the American East League. With players like Jose Bautista, Vernon Wells and Brandon Morrow, one would think their standing in the ranking table would be better off than their opponents’.
However, it is easy to assume that those title contending ball clubs are either weak or equally competitive in terms of personnel and management. Unfortunately, it is important to realize that the Blue birds are up against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Boston Red
Sox and the New York Yankees in the division.
When considering these facts, it becomes clear that the side has a modest position, given their circumstances. The New York Yankees, however, lie second, on the table and that isn’t just the complete story. They lag behind the
title contenders by a 1/2 win. The fact that the team is currently locked with the Jays in a series isn’t the only debilitating issue with manager Joe Girardi. There is the upcoming final series against the Boston Red Sox to consider
as well. Not only are these teams bitter rivals but they have been locking horns since the early 20th century.
The match between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees went into first gear last night for the game-set opener. The three game series was being hosted in the Rogers Centre with just 16,004 fans cheering in the stands.
For the Yanks, this marked an opportunity to usurp the Rays off their title holding position. For the Canadian based ball club, the match up was a platform to build an astute reputation on.
Fortunately for the Rays, who lost their match against the Seattle Mariners, the Yankees crashed to a 5 – 7 defeat. Marc Rzepczynski was the orchestrator of the World Series Champion’s demise. Allan James Burnett tumbled for the
Yanks and the game went straight to the Blue Birds. Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson were both contributors, though for the losing team. Mark commented on the team’s form: “Hopefully it means we're getting it out of our system. We haven't played good baseball.
That's starters, that's offense, defence, it's everything. Let's get this out of our system and hopefully we do make the playoffs and have a chance to win a World Series."
Tomorrow’s match up brings a further study into which players who are most likely to shine for their respective team.
New York Yankees
Mark Teixeira: The power hitter has been reliable all season around. Fans will be hoping to see the ace batter inflict massive pain on the Blue Jays’ defence. His 33 home runs
depict a strong mentality in the roster. His 3 run homer in last night’s fixture was eye candy for most supporters. The hit showed what the hitter is surely capable of.
Carsten Charles Sabathia: Sabathia is currently on an Earning Run Average (ERA) of 3.26 and the big man will surely look to nudge of his last game’s forgetful performance. The player will be looking for
the league’s first 21 wins in a season. The fixture will also ready the ball thrower for the playoffs.
Toronto Blue Jays
Kyle Drabek: The rookie pitcher will be going into his 3rd game of the season and he surely will be facing a hard challenge going up against Sabathia on the mound. It only has to be observed
how things shape up in the game. His ERA of 4.91 suggests he’s not a danger to the visitors, but in Major League Baseball, one can’t take anything for granted.
Jose Bautista: the star hitter has been phenomenal this season. His batting average is down at .262 but his 52 home runs of the season prove he’s surely a man to be reckoned with. The 119 Runs Batted In
explains how effective he can be to his team. Jose is a player to look out for in tomorrow’s game.
