Question:

AL Cy Young...What Do You Think?

If K-Rod breaks the saves record (which it looks like he will at this rate), do you think he deserves the AL Cy Young award? I think that they should give it to him if he continues this dominance and breaks the record. I know it's different than most choices, but I think it's justified. What do you guys think?

  1. I think K-Rod definitely deserves the Cy Young Award. He will definitely break the record at his current pace.

I don't think Cliff Lee's second half will be as good as the first. He no longer has Casey Blake to provide what little offense he could, nor does he have CC Sabathia in the rotation, meaning Lee will have to face the staff ace much more often.

Halladay eats innings and strikes guys out, but the offense in Toronto is becoming increasingly enemic.

K-Rod is a lock for AL Cy Young.

  2. frankie should get the cy young and he will break not shatter the record

  3. i definitely think he does, although he may have a hard time winning it because some of the voters scoff at the idea of a closer being the best pitcher in the league...it's going to come down to him and cliff lee, and i think if he breaks the save record, which it looks like he's going to shatter, then he'll get the award

  4. Its between lee and haliday for me.  lee has the better numbers but its suprising to see haliday not throw a CG.  i cant see lee keeping up these numbers if the indians are this crappy, but i guess i still have to take him to win it.

  5. Cliff Lee...he's having an amazing year after being disrupted by injury last year. He's not a fluke since just a few years ago he finished third in Cy Young voting after winning 18 games. Cliff's got my vote.

  6. K-rod, hes on pace to get over 60 saves.

  7. either cliff lee or fransicio rodriguez only if he beats the record

  8. Unless he gets hurt, there's no doubt he'll break the record. However, personally I don't like giving the cy young award to relievers partly b/c they have a separate award and partly because cy young himself was a stater and has the all time wins record.

As for the Halladay/Lee argument, Lee has more wins, fewer losses, and  a lower ERA. 'Nuff said!

Please look at some detailed stats and not just his last start and you will sound a lot smarter.

Lee's Last 4 Starts: 6 ER in 5 IP (obviously the one yall are referring to), 2 ER in 8 IP, 2 ER in 9 IP, 0 ER in 6 IP.

    Over his last 10 starts (5-1), he's given up 21 ER in 69 2/3 IP. That's a 2.71 ERA.

  9. Cliff Lee or Roy Halladay. Lee is 14-2.....if he keeps that up he has a GREAT chance. Halladay is just a horse on the mound and racks up the innings pitched.....if he keeps that up he has a good chance. These guys also have era's under 3.

  10. Cliff Lee

  11. I agree. If he doesnt break the record then Cliff Lee.

  12. K-Rod. Only because Cliff Lee cannot keep this pace up. He's already giving up runs and pretty soon he's gonna get a higher and higher era.

    K-Rod if he breaks record

Cliff Lee if he can keep the ERA down.
