Cliff Lee is a great pitcher BUT you cant judge a pitcher on their record. he gets run support so yes he is going to have a good record. but what if Justin Duchscherer had run support. he has a crazy 0.94 WHIP.

K-rod another great pitcher BUT he plays for the angels, when the angels win games their usually within three runs, which means they bring their closer out and he gets the save. if he played with another team he probably wouldnt get as many save opportunities

I am by no means a yankee fan or anything, but Mariano Rivera should get the cy young if his performance is the same in the second half

Granted, Cliff Lee has a fabulous record (14-2). And you're right, Francisco Rodriguez has more saves. But not only has Mariano Rivera not blown any of his 26 save opportunities, he hadn't even allowed one stinking run in any of those save situations until a few weeks ago.

So his ERA this year, when a save is on the line, is an absurd 0.37 (one earned run in 24 1/3 IP). And if he keeps up this pace, that would be the second-lowest save-situation ERA in history by any reliever who saved 30 games or more, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Only Eric Gagne, in his unconscious 2003 season, ever beat that (with 0.32). And whaddayaknow, he won a Cy Young that year.

Rivera also has a superhuman 0.67 WHIP and 14.25-1 strikeout-walk ratio this year (57 K's, 4 BB). And the only closer ever to better those numbers -- Dennis Eckersley -- also won a Cy Young. So when a closer is having this historic a season, the starters need just as historic credentials to beat him. And so far, that ain't happening.

If Cliff Lee continues to pitch like he has,he'll win it...He is on pace to winning over 20 games and his ERA is 2.29.

Cliff Lee, he has 14 wins for a last place team, and K-Rod only thrown 46 innings, and doesn't have to keep a team down  for 5-6 innings.

I am a little ashamed to admit this, but I didn't know that Closers could win Cy Young. In that case, definitely K-Rod!!

Francisco. Opposing teams only have 8 innings to bat if he comes in. No point trying, he's just amazing!
