Can Evan Longoria still win the AL rookie of the year after spending the last month on the DL? If no, who do you think will win?

  1. i still think longoria

  2. Probably Longoria.  He seems to be the media favorite.

Alexei Ramirez deserves it more though.

  3. David Murphy should win,

  4. Definitely Longoria.

Despite not playing for the first 3 weeks and being off for the last 2 1/2, Longoria has in 13 more at bats,

    6 more runs,

    7 more doubles,

    7 more home runs,

    12 more RBIs

    33 more walks

    but double the Ks

he's 7 for 7 in SB (100%) and Ramirez is 9 for 17 (53%)  <- He must run like Ron Santo does now)

    Avg splits are

    Longoria .278, .351, .533

    Ramirez, .308, .324, .492

Seems like Longoria is the man.

  5. Longoria will win hands down

  6. Longoria by a landslide. What other rookies do you know that have done anything this year? Longoria is in a class of his own.

  7. Longoria. although i have been very impressed with alexi ramirez

  8. There are a few candidates here that are definitely worth choosing from in my mind. Here they are:

Denard Span: 223 at bats, 69 hits, 3 HR, 29 RBI's, 32 K's, .309 average, and a daily contributor to the top ten plays on sportscenter.

    Evan Longoria: 381 at bats, 106 hits, 22 HR, 71 RBI's, 102 K's, .278 average, and a great defender

    Alexei Ramirez: 374 at bats, 115 hits 15 HR, 59 RBI's, 51 K's, .307 average, great defender as well

There are some other great choices out there, but these three are my choices. Now as for the winner, it still has to be Evan Longoria. Span has the likeability factor while being popular due to his nightly contribution to the web gems and top plays. However, his hitting numbers just aren't flashy enough. He is very consistent and solid, but can't put fear into pitchers. Ramirez has put on a run to make it a close one though. He has the power, contact, fielding, and even the patience. He has only struck out 51 times which is quite impressive. However, he just hasn't been the leader of his team and has been somewhat quiet throughout the league. As for Longoria, he is an all-star, home run derby participator, and the leader of his ball club. He can hit for contact, lots of power, and contains very good defense as well. He is also part of the best team out of the three players, while Span and Ramirez are fighting for the Central division between the two. Even though he has been hurt for a while, I think he is still more than deserving to take home the 2008 ROY award.

  9. longoria is my favorite rays player and i think he will win roy award and fukudome will win it for nl

  10. Probably still Longoria. Ryan Braun won NL rookie of the year last year and didn't get brought up until the end of May, so I would say Longoria gets it hands down.

  11. Evan Longoria revived a dead ball club who had never ever even smelt the playoffs. Hands down Evan Longoria.

  12. Could  but i have to give it to Alexei Ramirez

  13. ok it will probly be mike avalies from the royals
