  1. - Vitamin C 1000mg-2000mg per day as Magnesium Ascorbate Powder {Low acidity} taken every 4-6hours, {since excess Vitamin C is excreted in urine, at mega-doses Vitamin C affects the biochemistry in a different reaction pathway compared to the Reccommended Daily Allowance of 60mg per day}, or 2 pints of freshly squeezed orange juice, made at home. Do not buy supermarket brand orange juices, they are loaded with added sugar, perservatives, and some are even pasteurised!. Vitamin C is also a mild anti-histamine.

    - Local Farm-Made Honey - Open the Yellow pages, or ask around, and find  local farm that sells raw organic honey, only raw honey will have the pollen intact and inside the honey. Once eaten, the immune system will recognise the pollen, and cease seeing it as an invading pathogen. Since the pollen in the honey will be the same as that pollen in the air in your area, this is a novel idea to cure allergies for the entire Season!, or even longer.

    - L-Methionine: 1000mg - 3000mg per day, depending on severity of symptoms. L-Methionine is an amino acid that breaks down Histamine; Histamine is a chemical produced by basophil cells in response to being aggrevated by an allergen {like pollen}. Histamine causes the watery eyes, squeezing, sniffy/stuffy nose, even headaches, and other flu-like symptoms. So breaking down histamine with cease the SYMPTOMS, but taking the local farm-made Honey will cease the CAUSE.

I do not reccommend over-the-counter anti-histamines/allergy pills since they have many negative side-effects, like drowsiness, wheezing, headaches ect.

    Hope this helps.

  2. You might need a variety; depends on your allergies and your specific response. Look for generic Benedryl (diphenhydramine), Claritin (loratadine) and Zyrtec (don't know....). You also need to know what you are allergic to. If it is indoor (pets, dust, mold) you have to get it out of there. If it is outdoor, you can use an air conditioner, make sure you don't hang clothes outside to dry, and take a shower before bed (really...). You might also want to try a nasal rinse of saline and warm water or something over the counter called "Alcolol" and water.   The main thing thoush, is that you really need to know what you are allergic to.

  3. I don't know if you have a Walgreens by you but I get the generic version of Claritin.  Walgreens calls it Wallitin.  Works just the same and is way cheaper.

  4. The most common choices are Claritin, Zyrtec & Benadryl.

You need to check out your symptoms and determine what you are allergic to.  Claritin is good if you have a job in which you need to be very alert because it comes in a non-drowsy form.  Zyrtec is good for indoor and outdoor allergies.  Benadryl is good if you have trouble sleeping because of it's active ingredient.

I recommend that you talk with your doctor if you want another prescription allergy medicine, Clarinex or even Allegra (which has an generic in most stengths so it will be cheaper).  And this question should be addressed to a pharmacist, not online, because you could have certain health issues that prevent you from taking certain medications, such people with hypertension (high blood pressure) should not take Sudafed! People on the internet would suggest things without even considereding necessary facts =) Good luck

  5. Benadryl. Benadyl makes you drowsy, though. Sudafed. Sorry, I spelled them wrong, but the pronounciations are correct.
