  1. 9m=4m-35 ... put all the "m"s on one side

    9m - 4m = -35 ... simplify by subtracting the "m"s

    5m = -35   ... divide by 5 on both sides

    5m/5 = -35/5

    m = -7

    5(x+3)=3(x+8)  .. get rid of the brackets by multiplying from the outside

    5x + 15 = 3x + 24  .. put the numbers on one side, and x's on other

    5x - 3x = 24 -15

    2x = 9

    x = 9/2 (4.5)

    :)
