1. 1. 3 or -2

    6x-3=15 : add 3 to 15 and you end up with :6x=18 divide 18 by 6 which equals 3

    change the right hand side to -15; then add 3; that gives you the equation 6x= -12; divide by 6 and x= -2

    The bars mean absolute value: any answer that is within those bars will always be positive.

    2. 2 or -12

    first simplify |x+5|=7 ; what positive and negative number can you add to five to get 7? 2 & -12;

    3. -3<(or equal to) x<(or equal to)15/2

    start with your equation as: -21<(or equal to) 4x-9<(or equal to) 21

    add 9 to both sides; then divide both sides by 4.

    4. 17/3 >(or equal to) x>(or equal to)1

    same thing as 3 : -7>(or equal to) 10-3x>(or equal to) 7

    subtract both sides by 10

    then divide both sides by -3

    Hope this helps

  2. 1. First of all we need to «get the -3 the other side», that way:

    6x - 3 + 3 = 15 + 3

    6x = 18

    now we need to find what's x, if it's written 6x, we need to divide by 6 THE 2 SIDES.

    6x/6 = 18/6

    x = 3

    that's our first answer.

    2. If 3 is outside the parenthesis, we need to multiply everything's in it by itself. Like that:

    (3*x)+(3*5) = 21

    that gives us

    3x+15 = 21

    now we do the same thing than at number 1, with a minus this time.

    3x + 15 - 15 = 21 -15

    3x = 6

    3x/3 = 6/3

    x = 2

    3. 4x-9 <= 21

    Inequalities are quite the same thing.

    4x - 9 +9 <= 21 +9

    4x <= 30

    4x/4 <= 30/4

    x <= 7.5

    4. 10-3x >= 7

    same thing here

    10-3x-10 >= 7 -10

    3x >= -3

    3x/3 >= -3/3

    x >= -1

    If you have any question about it feel free to email me.

    Hope I helped

  3. I would love to explain this to you but you would not learn anything from that now would you?

    Most of us are not homework helpers.

    It's called the textbook, use it to get help.

  4. 3

  5. Can't help ya. . .  I hate algebra!

  6. 6x - 3 = 15

    6x = 18

    x = 3

    6x - 3 = -15

    6x = -12

    x = -2

    x+ 5 = 7

    x = 2

    x+ 5 = -7

    x = -12

    4x - 9 < 21

    4x < 30

    x < 30/4

    4x - 9 > - 21

    4x > -12

    x > -3

  7. justtt a giirl here it is

    1. |6x-3|=15

    6x - 3 = 15

    6x = 15 + 3

    6x = 18

    x = 3

    2. 3|x+5|=21

    3x + 15 = 21

    3x = 21 - 15

    3x = 6

    x = 2

    3. |4x-9|< or equal to 21

    4x ≤ 21 + 9

    4x ≤ 30

    x ≤ 15/2

    4. |10-3x|> or equal to 7

    10 - 3x ≥ 7

    -3x ≥ 7 - 10

    3x ≥ 3

    x ≥ 1

    hope this helps

  8. 1 |6x-3|=15

    6x-3 = 15

    6x-3 = -15

    x= 3 or -2

    2. 3|x+5|=21

    x+5 = 7

    x+5 = -7

    x = 12 or -2

    inequalities

    3. |4x-9|< or equal to 21

    4x-9 = 21

    4x-9 >=-21

    -3 <= x <= 7.5

    4. |10-3x|> or equal to 7

    10-3x>= 7

    10-3x<=-7

    x<=1 or x>=5.7

  9. Remember that the value inside the signs can be both negative and positive, so there should be two solutions of x.

    1.) |6x - 3| = 15

    6x - 3 = 15 or 6x - 3 = -15

    6x = 18 or 6x = -12

    x = 3 or x = -2 <===ANSWER

    2.) 3|x + 5| = 21

    |x + 5| = 7

    x + 5 = 7 or x + 5 = -7

    x = 2 or x = -12 <===ANSWER

    3.) |4x - 9| ≤ 21

    -21 ≤ 4x - 9 ≤ 21

    -12 ≤ 4x ≤ 30

    -3 ≤ x ≤ 15/2 <===ANSWER

    4.) |10 - 3x| ≥ 7

    10 - 3x ≥ 7 or 10 - 3x ≤ -7

    -3x ≥ -3 or -3x ≤ - 17

    x ≤ 1 or x ≥ 17/3 <===ANSWER

    For equations, simply isolate the absolute value on one side of the equation and then solve for x twice, once with the positive and once with the negative. For example, in #1, you solve for x with 15 and -15. In inequalities, it's a bit different. If the isolated absolute value is less than, then you solve for x by negative < absolute value < positive, such as shown in #3, so x should be between two values. If the isolated absolute value is greater than, then you should make two inequalities, one with > positive and one with < negative, as shown in #4, so x should be x = ? or x = ?.

  10. 6x-3=15

    6x=15+3

    6x=18

    x=18/6

    x=3

    2. 3{x+5}=21

    [now multiplying 3 with x& 5]

    3x+15=21

    3x=21-15

    3x=6

    x=2

    3. |4x-9|< or equal to 21

    4x-9=21

    4x=21+9

    4x=30

    x=30/4

    7.5

    now put t5he value of x in the equation

    4(7.5)-9=21

    30-9=21

    21=-21

    & the 4th one is same as the 3rd

  11. 1.x = 3

    6x-3=15 well that's simple, what's 15 plus 3? 18 and 6x3 is 18. and then the value of that would still stay the same.

    2. x = 2

    okay well that's easy too, 3 x what is 21? 7. so add 2 to 5 to make 7.

    okay well sorry i don't know the last two.

  12. |6x-3|=15

    Subtract 3 from both sides. You should have:

    |6x|=12

    12 devided by 6 is 2. x = 2

  13. 6x-3=15 or 6x-3=-15 ........since it is absolute value

    x=3                                x=2

    4x-9-21<=0 by using sine chart solve it

        or      x<=15/2
